If you see “Jenn-Air Gas Barbecue Grill” advertised anywhere on the ‘Net, in your local paper, or on television, you may be surprised to learn that the Jenn-Air company does not even manufacture gas grills. Jenn-Air manufactures a long line of indoor cooktops of which you’re sure to be familiar, but gas grills? Nope.
What has happened with the Jenn-Air gas barbecue grill thing is that the company has licensed its name to Lowe’s – the big-box store everyone knows about and undoubtedly has one either in their town or near their town. The advertised grills with the Jenn-Air name on them actually come from China and are manufactured by a company called “Nexgrill.”
What’s so confusing is that if you have trouble with a “Jenn-Air” gas barbecue grill part, you really don’t know where to turn. It stands to reason it wouldn’t be cost effective to make an overseas call to China for replacement parts or service.
Another thing with a Jenn-Air gas barbecue grill is that you can only find them at Lowe’s – unless you get lucky on eBay, your local classified newspaper ads, or a garage sale.
The Jenn-Air gas barbecue grill currently sold at Lowe’s looks like a sturdy, well-built piece of equipment. It comes in three sizes for its outdoor models and is offered in four built-in indoor models. At 45,000, 48,000, and 60,000 BTUs in the outdoor grills and 48,000, 68,000, and 98,000 BTUS for indoor models, there seems to be a Jenn-Air gas barbecue grill to suit everyone.
Lowe’s Jenn-Air gas barbecue grill boasts stainless steel construction, solid-cast brass burners, and generously sized cooking areas – things to consider when you’re buying a grill with longevity in mind. But for those goodies, be prepared to spend anywhere from $649 to more than $1,000 for your Lowe’s Jenn-Air gas barbecue grill.
With that said, it might do you well to consider alternatives to the Jenn-Air gas barbecue grill. Like maybe a plain, old-fashioned charcoal grill from Weber for less than a hundred bucks?
Whether or not you select a Jenn-Air gas barbecue grill to show-off your outdoor cooking expertise, remember: There are a lot of fish in the sea – and lots of outdoor gas grills on the market. Choose wisely.
